JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) in Johannesburg has expelled a ward councillor for illegally selling land and conniving with city officials.

Leepile Motsumi was found guilty by the party's integrity committee of selling two pieces of land in Kaalfontein earlier this year.

The ANC's Jolidee Matongo says that they will not shy away from disciplining their members who are involved in corruption.

“It’s not the first time we have acted. In the previous term, a councillor in Diepkloof was involved in a similar case. We have already issued a warning to all ANC councillors to desist from involving themselves in any conduct that may tarnish the image of the ANC.”
