JOHANNESBURG – The Gauteng Social Development Department and Eldorado Park residents are expected to meet on Tuesday after five children were rescued from a drug den in southern Johannesburg.

The department has denied claims that it ignored the matter when it was reported but the Eldorado Park local drug action committee maintains they have been waiting since last week Friday for intervention.

The committee’s Dereleen James says that the children are now in a place of safety but still need medical attention.

“It is for the social worker to have medical done for these kids. It is for the social worker to give a report to so that we charge these parents. Last week we buried a four-year-old that we found in a hole in Eldorado Park.”
