Eskom explains delay in Matshela Koko's disciplinary hearing

Matshela Koko's disciplinary hearing was due to start on Monday but it’s now set to begin on Wednesday.

JOHANNESBURG - There's been another false start to the disciplinary hearings against suspended Eskom executive Matshela Koko due to the availability of the newly appointed chairperson of the hearing.

Koko was suspended for failing to declare a conflict of interest when he awarded a multi-million rand contract to a company linked to his stepdaughter.

Eskom's Khulu Phasiwe says that the main issue was deciding on the exact time for the hearing.

Koko will face other charges relating to irregularly removing some of his colleagues from their positions, while his involvement in the McKinsey and Trillian scandal hasn't yet been finalised.

Tiso Blackstar applied to attend and report on the inquiry. Eskom says that it has now been decided that all media are allowed to attend proceedings.
