JOHANNESBURG - SuperSport United are the MTN8 champions after beating Cape Town City on penalties at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday night.

Cape Town City went ahead in the 23rd minute when Sibusiso Masina scored off an Abrahin Seedat assist.

City managed to hold onto the lead until the 80th minute when Mnyamane Phala equalised for the Matsatsantsa.

SuperSport manager Eric Tinkler had already made his maximum substitutions before Thabo Mnyamane had to walk off the field injured just eight minutes from time.

City had the advantage playing a ten-man SuperSport.

However, the Citizens did not take advantage of their extra man and after 90 minutes, the game went to extra time.
A goalless extra time forced the match into penalties.
