ANC NC confident of unity despite leadership tensions
Northern Cape ANC chairperson Zamani Saul says things are going in the right direction.
JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) in the Northern Cape says it will go into the party's elective conference in December as a united region.
This despite a threat that disgruntled members could take legal action to have the provincial leadership nullified.
The complainants also want the courts to halt the province's regional conferences which are scheduled for next month, citing prejudice and harm.
Northern Cape ANC chairperson Zamani Saul says: “Things are going in the right direction and we’re finding a common purpose to ensure we’re strong.”
Last month, the High Court in Pietermaritzburg nullified the results of the 2015 provincial elections in KwaZulu-Natal.
Just two weeks ago in the Eastern Cape, eight people were injured during the elective conference.
Disgruntled members there have also approached the courts, but their case was struck off the roll.
