Strike looms at RAF over working conditions
Metalworkers union Numsa has received a strike certificate against the Road Accident Fund.
JOHANNESBURG - A strike is looming at the Road Accident Fund (RAF).
Metalworkers union Numsa has received a strike certificate against the RAF.
Employees claim they're exposed to harmful working conditions and poor sanitation which management has failed to address.
The union says about eight workers fainted while working in the poorly ventilated building last month.
The union's Phakamile Hlubi says: “Numsa is demanding that the employer relations and general manager at RAF in Johannesburg be suspended for the manner in which they’ve handled this issue. The CCMA has granted us the right to strike, but we want to avoid a strike and solve this amicably.”
