Severe storms set to hit Gauteng
The South African Weather Service says from around lunch time residents can expect heavy rain, damaging winds and hail.
JOHANNESBURG – A severe thunderstorm is expected in Gauteng this afternoon.
The South African Weather Service says from around lunchtime residents can expect heavy rain, damaging winds and hail.
Forecaster Dipuo Tawana says, “Severe thunderstorms are expected in places over the province from the afternoon. We’re looking at from around 1pm onwards.”
This follows heavy downpours which the province has experienced since last week Thursday.
Emergency services officials have been on high alert amidst storm warnings.
On their Twitter account, the weather service has warned that Gauteng, the North West, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and Limpopo will experience severe thunderstorms.
