Cope’s Patrick Sikhutshi says he's being targeted
Cope announced that Sikhutshi had been suspended as the Limpopo chairperson.
JOHANNESBURG - The Congress of the People's (Cope) Limpopo chairperson Patrick Sikhutshi says his suspension is "utter nonsense" and is a response to the motion of no confidence he brought against party leader Mosiuoa Lekota and his executive.
Cope announced that Sikhutshi had been suspended as the province's chairperson after he was accused of misappropriating party funds.
The suspension took effect immediately, pending an investigation.
However, Sikhutshi says he is being targeted.
“They are out against me because he doesn’t want to vacate that position.”
Cope’s congress executive committee is expected to formally inform the provincial and regional structures of Sikhutshi's suspension today.
