Sisulu: Zwane's sentiments undermine ANC democracy
Lindiwe Sisulu says Mosebenzi Zwane is wrong for saying the ANC national executive committee already knows who is going to be party president in December.
JOHANNESBURG – Presidential candidate Lindiwe Sisulu says Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane is wrong for saying the African National Congress (ANC) national executive committee (NEC) already knows who is going to be party president in December.
Speaking at the Mining Indaba this week, Zwane said the decision had already been made at branch level around the country.
But Sisulu says his sentiments undermine party democracy.
“I mean what Mr Zwane was saying is actually so wrong because what he’s doing is undermining the democratic processes that are central in the ANC.
“I don’t know what drove him to say that, but I’m going to write to him as well and tell him what he said was wrong and he should not do it again.”
She says through the elective conference in December, the party has the opportunity to regain the trust of its members.
“We have the opportunity now, we’re going into December and we’ve got to make sure everybody who’s voting has to make sure that we’re creating an ANC that anybody who’s taken part in our liberation can be proud of.”
The Human Settlements Minister was speaking to Karima Brown during 702’s Townhall Meeting last night.
