[LISTEN] Is the ANC cannibalising itself?

Political analyst Moeletsi Mbeki says the conflict in the ANC is because of the desire for cushy government jobs and not necessarily a result of factionalism.

JOHANNESBURG - Political analyst Moeletsi Mbeki says the African National Congress (ANC) is not really faced with factionalism.

He says factionalism is based on differing ideologies, while ANC members are fighting for leadership positions.

Mbeki says people want government jobs because they are highly paid, but this does not necessarily mean that they want to partake in corruption.

Mbeki says this is characteristic of how politics plays itself out in post-colonial Africa.
