Eskom: Anoj Singh suspended
Eskom has also confirmed that former acting CEO Matshela Koko's disciplinary hearing is scheduled to begin within the next two weeks.
JOHANNESBURG - Almost 20 hours after Eyewitness News revealed that Eskom's chief financial officer Anoj Singh has been suspended, the utility has now finally confirmed the sanction.
It released a statement this afternoon, saying Singh who was on special leave has now been suspended pending a disciplinary hearing.
Eskom's acting chair Zethembe Khoza was quite certain on Thursday that Singh had already been placed on suspension.
Eskom has also confirmed that former acting CEO Matshela Koko's disciplinary hearing is scheduled to commence within the next two weeks.
Koko was suspended after it emerged that he had awarded a contract to a company that his step-daughter was involved in.
This comes after a damning report by Eskom’s own legal team, seen by EWN, revealed how several Eskom executives, including the controversial CFO, went out of their way to pay the Gupta-linked company.
It’s been widely reported that despite US firm Oliver Wyman having red-flagged transactions with Trillian, Eskom lied by claiming that everything was above board.
Now, according to its own report, Eskom admits that it ignored opinions as far back as 2015 about its controversial dealings with the firms.
Meanwhile, Business Leadership South Africa on Thursday announced it suspended the membership of both Eskom and Transnet as a result of ongoing allegations of corruption against the state enterprises.
