No bail for man accused of shooting Tebogo Ndlovu
Matthew Benson allegedly shot at Tebogo Ndlovu and his two friends at his father's Mooinooi farm in August.
BRITS - The Brits magistrates court has denied bail for the man accused of shooting 24-year-old Majakaneng resident Tebogo Ndlovu.
Matthew Benson allegedly shot Ndlovu and his two friends at his father's Mooinooi farm in August, and while his friends managed to escape unharmed, Ndlovu has not been seen since the incident.
Last month community members barricaded roads and pelted stones at passing vehicles on the N4 in a violent protest against police who they accused of dragging their feet in helping recover Ndlovu's body.
Previous reports on testimonies heard in Benson's bail hearing revealed that blood found at the scene of the alleged crime matched that of the missing man's mother, Martha Ndlovu.
Ndlovu's mother refutes claims her son was spotted in the neighbouring village of Bapong, saying he would have returned home if he were still alive.
The investigating officer in the matter has supported her view, testifying that it was established that those claiming to have seen Ndlovu were referring to the two other victims.
A family member, who was reluctant to be named, says all they want is to be given Ndlovu's remains as in their culture it is important to know where a loved is buried.
Community members gathered outside the court in support of Ndlovu's family say they will return when Benson is expected to make his next appearance.
The case was has been postponed until 7 November 2017.
