JOHANNESBURG - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Johannesburg is currently staging a militant office stay-in at the metro council.
The action comes after two people were killed and dozens were injured while the Red Ants were evicting residents of an informal settlement in Lenasia south on Friday.
The party’s regional region deputy secretary Kgabo Hlonyana says: “We have been trying to speak to the City of Johannesburg. So, our demand is simple, we want Mayor Herman Mashaba and the MMC for Housing Mzobani Ntuli to address us. If they don’t come, we’d rather sleep here… no one goes in, no one comes out.”
We are currently occupying the Mayor's office demanding an end to the Red Ants terror in Lenasia where two people died as a result... pic.twitter.com/q0pjPvCVxJ— @effjoburg (@effjoburg) September 22, 2017
