Makhosi Khoza quits ANC
The outspoken MP had been facing disciplinary action over her criticism of President Jacob Zuma.
Khoza made the announcement a short while ago at Lilliesleaf Farm in northern Johannesburg.
She says that the ANC has become corrupt and alien to her over the years and has vowed to take the values and the mission of the ruling party and continue to "serve" the people.
Khoza says she tried to serve the ANC with honour and dignity but has now decided that this is no longer the party that she knows.
She says that it pains her when she is ridiculed for acting with her moral conscience and that it became difficult to stay on.
"I, therefore, want to say goodbye new, alien and corrupt ANC. I quit."
She maintains that the ANC is too broken to be fixed.
"The ANC... this new, alien and corrupt ANC is too broken to be fixed. That's my view."
Khoza ended by saying that she has quit as she wants to free herself from the nasty, corrupt and alien ANC.
