DURBAN - As speculation swirls over who might be responsible for the murder of Sindiso Magaqa, community members have been urged to come forward with any information that could assist with investigations.

The former African National Congress Youth League secretary general was laid to rest on Sunday in his hometown of uMzimkhulu.

He died in hospital last week after being shot in July.

Speakers at the 35-year-old’s funeral reflected on his fearlessness.

They referred to how his murder could have been ordered by someone in the ANC and is possibly linked to what has been described as “rampant looting” in the uMzimkhulu Municipality.

Magaqa's wife, Gugu, whose message was read out by a family member, shared her feelings of loss.

“God decided you are better off when you are with him.”

The KwaZulu-Natal ANC leadership has committed to returning to the area to properly investigate claims made during the memorial and funeral services.
