JOHANNESBURG - The producers of Rhythm City have decided to incorporate Dumi Masilela’s death into the exit storyline of his character, Sifiso Ngema, as a way to pay tribute to him.

Masilela was shot in a suspected hijacking in Tembisa in August and later died in hospital.

Producer Yula Quinn says the show decided to put together an episode which would be a celebration of both the actor and the character.

“The memorial will feature the cast commenting and talking about the character.”

Quinn says the memorial episode is being filmed because they wanted to make a statement about him as he was part of the Rhythm City family.

“He died so tragically. We wanted to pay tribute to him, to his work with us.”

The episode will air in October.
