Some Joburg areas still without power 10 days after cable theft

JOHANNESBURG - Electricity still hasn’t been fully restored to the Johannesburg CBD, 10 days after massive cable theft.
Some business owners at the Carlton Centre and residents of Pritchard Street will have to contend without power for at least another day.
Earlier in September, cable thieves gained access to the underground tunnels, melted the copper wires which plunged the CBD in darkness.
City Power's Sol Masolo says that technicians worked throughout the night and have restored electricity to almost all affected areas.
“We still have problems with Carlton Centre and Pritchard Street which we hope to sort out before the end of the day as well. But the majority of Johannesburg is back on.”
