Ipid investigates after cops fire rubber bullets at CT partygoers

CAPE TOWN – The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) is probing a shooting in Manenberg.

A video has surfaced on social media of officers storming a premises and opening fire with rubber bullets on a group of party-goers, apparently for no reason.

No one was hurt, but the incident has been reported to Ipid.

The directorate’s Moses Dlamini says they are investigating.

“I can confirm Ipid has received notification about this matter. We are investigating. The investigation is in its early stages, but we call on witnesses to come forward and contact Ipid.”
