Faf du Plessis to juggle all 3 Proteas balls

CAPE TOWN - Proteas batsman Faf du Plessis has been handed the reigns of the national one-day international (ODI) team, giving him the responsibility of leading South Africa in all three cricket formats.

Cricket South Africa has announced du Plessis will take over from his close friend AB de Villiers, who had resigned as ODI captain.

The top order batsman will lead the Proteas against Bangladesh next month.

“Congratulations to Faf on his appointment as the natural successor to the ODI leadership,” commented CSA chief executive Haroon Lorgat.

“He has established himself as one of the best leaders in world cricket and this was reflected in his appointment as the captain of the World XI currently engaged in the T20 Series against Pakistan.”

Du Plessis returned to cricket nearly two months ago after of the birth of his first child.
