Another South African to participate in World Rallycross Championship
Capetonian Ashley Haigh-Smith will make his World RX debut.
CAPE TOWN - A second South African Rally driver has signed up to participate in the World Rallycross Championship.
Capetonian Ashley Haigh-Smith, aged 25, will make his World RX debut during the 12th and final round of the Gumtree World Rallycross Championship in two months time.
Haigh-Smith is set to participate in the circuit racing event in an Olsberg MSE Supercar.
He is the only South African Rally driver to have participated in the Junior World Rally Championship.
He says bringing World Rallycross to Cape Town will boost local motorsport and show the country has the ability to host world-class events.
The final leg of the 2017 championship kicks off at Killarney International Raceway in November.
