JOHANNESBURG - One of the women who’s been named as having had an affair with Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has described the last few days as a nightmare.

Nonhlanhla Radebe's name appeared alongside seven other women in questions sent to the Deputy President by the Sunday Independent newspaper last week.

The subsequent report in the paper alleged that the presidential hopeful used his wealth to prey on several women.

Radebe says while she is an African National Congress (ANC) member, she has never met Ramaphosa.

“It’s been very upsetting for all of us and my parents as well. They are hardworking people and they know that this is not the daughter they raised.”

The Deputy President has fought back, claiming that the reports are a political smear campaign.

He has admitted to having an affair but says it happened eight years ago and that he and his wife have dealt with it.

Meanwhile, ANC NEC member Jackson Mthembu says he will continue to support Ramaphosa.

“The timing of this so-called revelation by the Sunday independent speaks to a political agenda, one of stopping Ramaphosa from being nominated and probably being elected president of the ANC and probably president of the country.”
