Happy Jele granted R1,000 bail for speeding

JOHANNESBURG - The police have confirmed that a local soccer player has been released on R1,000 bail after he was arrested for speeding on the M1 near Sandton on Monday morning.

The Department of Community Safety earlier named Orlando Pirate defender Happy Jele as the culprit for driving at 223 kilometres per hour in a 120 kilometres zone.

Jele faces charges of reckless driving and exceeding the speed limit.

The police's Mavela Masondo says Jele will appear in court on Tuesday.

“We can confirm that he was given a police bail of R1,000 and will appear in the Randburg Magistrates Court on Tuesday 5 September.”
