JOHANNESBURG – Electrical cables have been stolen underground in the Johannesburg CBD.

This has resulted in dozens of traffic lights being out of order.

The Metro Police’s Wayne Minnaar says it’s not yet clear how many cables were stolen at the weekend.

"It’s obviously people who know how to disconnect the cables and it’s people who know how to remove the cables because they remove it underground."
