Wayne Rooney charged with drunk driving in Cheshire
Cheshire Police say the 31-year-old Everton striker had been charged with driving while over the legal limit.
JOHANNESBURG - England footballing legend Wayne Rooney has been charged with drunk-driving after being pulled over by police.
Rooney was arrested in the wee hours of Friday morning.
According to a report, Cheshire Police say the 31-year-old Everton striker had been charged with driving while over the legal limit.
Rooney was released on bail and is due to appear in court later this month.
A picture was posted on Instagram on Friday evening, showing Rooney and a fellow customer tagged at the Bubble Room bar in Alderley Edge.
It was uploaded just after 10pm, but was deleted as reports of Rooney’s arrest surfaced on Friday morning.
Rooney, who is England’s all-time record goal scorer, retired from international football last month after rejoining the boyhood club he left for Manchester United 13 years ago.
