No vehicular movement allowed in Maiduguri during Muslim holiday

ABUJA – The Borno State Police in North east Nigeria will not allow vehicular movement in Maiduguri, Borno state today as a result of the celebration of the Muslim holiday of Eid-EL- Kabir.
Terrorists often take advantage of such holy days to launch suicide attacks on mosques and other worship centres
It appears the police in Borno state is taking proactive measures to prevent similar incidents such as those in the past where suicide bombers targeted prayer grounds during big religious festivals.
Police public relations officer Victor Isuku said the restriction would be applied to the use of cars, tricycles, bicycles and animals - until after the Eid congregational prayer on 1 September.
The police is also asking residents in Borno state not to approach any designated prayer grounds with knives or other dangerous weapons on their bodies
