Harmony Gold to investigate deadly Kusasalethu rockfall incident

On Thursday, the last two bodies were brought to the surface, ending a six-day rescue mission.

JOHANNESBURG - Harmony Gold says a full investigation into a fatal seismic event at its Kusasalethu mine will be instituted soon.

A rockfall at its Carltonville operation on Friday trapped five miners underground.

On Thursday, the last two bodies were brought to the surface, ending a six-day rescue mission.

Harmony Gold has sent its condolences to the family and friends of those who lost their lives.

The mine's Lauren Fourie says: "The remaining two trapped miners have been located an intensive investigation will follow the confusion of the rescue."
