No arrests made after alleged gang shooting at Bellville court

Officials placed the court on lockdown for a short period on Monday after a shoot-out ensued between rival gang members who got into an argument.

CAPE TOWN - No arrests have been made in connection with an alleged gang shooting that broke out at the Bellville magistrates court.

Officials placed the court on lockdown for a short period on Monday after a shoot-out ensued between rival gang members who got into an argument.

No injuries were reported.

The police’s Frederick van Wyk says that a number of gang members appeared in the dock in connection with several cases on Monday.

“They then pulled firearms and shot at each other. This happened outside the court building and they immediately fled after the shots were fired. No injuries were reported.”
