JOHANNESBURG – The Automobile Association (AA) has predicted a substantial increase in fuel prices in September.

It says petrol may see an increase of 61 cents a litre, while diesel could climb of 46 cents and illumination paraffin by almost 50 cents.

The AA has attributed the increase in oil prices.

“If oil continues to climb, South Africans should expect further pain at the pumps in the upcoming months,” the association said in a statement.

At the beginning of August, motorists coughed up an extra 19 cents per litre for all grades of petrol and diesel increased by between 29 and 30 cents per litre.
