Parly agrees to give MPs resources to start state capture probe
In June, House Chairperson Cedric Frolick instructed the Portfolio Committee on Public Enterprises to probe allegations contained in the so-called Gupta Leaks emails.
But MPs first wanted assurances that their inquiry would be well-resourced with an experienced evidence leader.
MPs met with Frolick several days ago, to explain their predicament.
They asked him to appoint Parliament's Advocate Ntuthuzelo Vanara to lead the state capture probe.
Parliament's spokesperson Moloto Mothapo says that Frolick has approved their request.
“Advocate Vanara who is experienced as evidence leader, having done the same for the SABC inquiry, has been allocated for that committee.”
This should be good news for parliamentarians who've been raring to get started for weeks.
