JOHANNESBURG - Harmony Gold's Kusasalethu mine has confirmed that the body of a third miner has just been brought to the surface. Two miners remain trapped underground.

The death toll of a seismic event at Harmony Gold’s Kusasalethu mine has now risen to three. The bodies of two workers were found over the weekend.

The five became trapped underground following a tremor on Friday.

Mine spokesperson Marian van der Walt says: “Again we express our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. It’s an incredibly tragic incident. We keep on hoping for the best but the conditions are difficult underground.”
