JOHANNESBURG – Harmony Gold says rescue efforts to find five trapped miners underground after a seismic event at its Kusasalethu Operation will continue until they have been located and safely brought to surface.

The workers became trapped on Friday and rescue teams worked tirelessly to reach the miners.

The firm says it’s doing all it can to ensure they are safe.

Harmony Gold’s Marian van der Walt says, “Together with management they are still focusing on rescuing efforts or rescuing plans. We’ll carry on until we find the employees.”

Van der Walt says, “Certainly this is of great concern to Harmony and we just want to call on all the listeners to pray with us because it is important to us that we bring these employees to surface safely.”
