CAPE TOWN - The parliamentary committee overseeing Minister Faith Muthambi's department has yet to hold a meeting this week as it's undergoing changes.

The Democratic Alliance has raised concern after a meeting scheduled for Wednesday was cancelled.

African National Congress (ANC) Chief Whip Jackson Mthembu is reshuffling members of the Public Service and Administration committee after removing Makhosi Khoza as chairperson last week.

Khoza's removal relates to her publicly challenging ANC leadership, while the committee wants Muthambi to answer questions over her travel expenses.

The minister reportedly spent nearly R500,000 of taxpayer funds on flying 30 friends and family to Cape Town to attend her budget vote speech in May.

Khoza was removed as chairperson just two days after MPs resolved to issue a summons to force Muthambi to appear in Parliament.

The ANC chief whip’s office issued a statement explaining that Khoza had alienated her ANC colleagues and that there was an irretrievable breakdown in relations.

Mthembu also warned that the ANC component of the committee would be reconfigured.

But it's unclear who's in and who's out.
