D-Day for ruling on DA’s complaint against Bell Pottinger
The UK-based PR agency has been accused of stirring racial tension in South Africa in campaigns for the Gupta-owned Oakbay.
CAPE TOWN - The Democratic Alliance (DA) will on Thursday hear whether it’s complaint against Gupta linked PR Firm Bell Pottinger was successful.
It pertained to leaked emails which apparently show the UK-based PR agency tried to stir racial tension in South Africa in campaigns for the Gupta-owned Oakbay.
All parties involved have remained silent since last week’s one-day hearing into Bell Pottinger’s conduct.
The association’s disciplinary committee heard oral representations by the DA and the company after it scrutinised written submissions.
Should the committee find no grounds for the complaint, it will announce a ruling before the end of Thursday.
But silence from the regulatory body will suggest a guilty verdict and Bell Pottinger will be given five days to appeal the finding.
The final outcome will then be made public within the next two weeks.
