Zwane to appear before mining committee over state capture allegations
Leaked emails appear to indicate the Gupta family was sent Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane’s CV a month before he was appointed.
The Portfolio Committee on Mineral Resources says this will be the starting point in how it will proceed with a probe into state capture as ordered by the National Assembly House chairperson.
On Wednesday, African National Congress Member of Parliament (MPs) on the committee wanted to call Zwane immediately to dispel claims from the opposition that the committee was stalling.

It’s also alleged he received private flights to Dubai and accommodation, courtesy of the Guptas.
ANC members of the Mineral Resources Committee said it was untrue that they were not committed to setting up a probe into the allegations.
In an unprecedented move, the committee adjourned to try to get Zwane to appear immediately.
Committee chairperson Zet Luzipho said: “Sometimes we may feel like we are taking it very slow. To speed up processes each and every opportunity that we get, he must then be available to deal with the matters as fast as possible.”
Zwane was not immediately available.
The committee said it would determine how to proceed with setting up an inquiry once Zwane had faced their questions.
