CT girl survives gunshot to the head

CAPE TOWN - A 12-year-old girl has miraculously survived after being shot in the head.

The girl was hit by a stray bullet in a suspected gang shooting in Factreton on Sunday.

The young girl was sitting outside her home when a gunman started shooting wildly.

The Kensington community policing forum's Cheslin Steenberg says he is appalled by the gun-toting youths in the area.

Steenberg is appealing to the community to come forward with any information that may assist in identifying the gunman.

Cape Town police say arrests have yet to be made and an investigation is underway.

The incident comes after a teenager was shot and killed in in Mitchells Plain last week. It's not clear if the shooting was gang related.

During a separate incident earlier this month, an 11-year-old boy who was killed by a stray bullet in Kensington.

Ruben September was gunned down near his home.

It's understood September was caught in the crossfire of gang violence just metres from his home in the Kukutown informal settlement. An investigation into this case continues.
