Girl (12) wounded in alleged gang shooting in Kensington

Police say the 12-year-old girl has been wounded in the crossfire of a suspected gang shooting in Glider Crescent.

CAPE TOWN - Cape Town police have confirmed a child has been wounded in a shooting in the suburb of Kensington just outside the city.

The young girl survived the incident and has been rushed to hospital.

Police say a 12-year-old girl has been wounded in the crossfire of a suspected gang shooting in Glider Crescent on Sunday afternoon.

Officers say no arrests have yet been made yet.

The Kensington Community Policing Forum's Cheslin Steenberg has been at the scene of the shooting.

“She was sitting in front of her home at the time of the incident.”

Steenberg says he believes the shooting is gang-related.

Officials are searching for the suspect and an investigation is underway.
