JOHANNESBURG – Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi is due to visit Norkem Park High School in Kempton Park in Johannesburg on Friday following a spate of violence over the past 48 hours.

A video has been making the rounds on social media showing pupils at the school fighting.

It’s alleged that some parents joined in the violence with weapons, resulting in a pupil being stabbed apparently with a scissor.

The department’s Steve Mabona says: “Family members coming to the school, bringing weapons.

“We saw on the picture a gun and we’re saying the MEC will be going there today, just to have an understanding of what’s really happening so that we can then take decisions that will make sure that the schooling environment is conducive for everyone.”
