JOHANNESBURG - The Supreme Court of Appeal has overturned an earlier decision granting Chris Hani's killer parole.

Janusz Walus spent 24 years in jail for assassinating the SACP leader.

Justice Minister Michael Masutha now has 90 days to reconsider whether Hani's killer should be released on parole.

The SACP's Mfekwa Nxumalo says the party welcomes the Supreme Court's decision.

“We are quite satisfied about the decision of the Supreme Court. And we are confident that the 90 days given to Minister Masutha is going to provide him ample time to ensure that the final decision that he will take is a decision that is going to satisfy us.”
