CAPE TOWN - A man will appear in court in Mauritius next week in connection with the murder of a South African woman.

Sahib Meerhossen has been charged with the murder of business executive Lara Rijs, who was a manager at a financial services company in Mauritius.

It’s understood she arrived in Mauritius at least three months ago.

Rijs studied at Unisa, Rhodes and Edinburgh Business School, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Her body was found at her complex earlier this week.

It's believed colleagues of Rijs discovered her body on Monday morning when she failed to show up for work.

They found her in her bed. She'd been stabbed to death.

Meerhossen, a security guard who worked at the complex where the 34-year-old woman lived, appeared in court on Tuesday.

He denied he murdered Rijs.

He'll be back in the dock next Tuesday.
