JOHANNESBURG - Justice and Correctional Services Minister Michael Masutha has condemned recent incidents of gender-based violence following the murder of a teacher at a Mpumalanga school on Monday.

Kate Chiloane was gunned down in full view of learners at the Sediba-Sa-Thuto primary school, allegedly by her husband who later took his own life.

Masutha has called on society to unite against the abuse of women and children.

“We as a nation need to take a strong stance against this continued and unabated phenomenon of an upsurge in abuse and this violence against women. Not only does it reflect us as a violent society but as a gender-intolerant society.”
