CAPE TOWN - Police are addressing an apparent flare-up of gang violence in Kensington in Cape Town.

A 19-year-old man was shot and wounded on Wednesday night.

The police's Frederick Van Wyk said: “The shooting happened at about 10.15pm and a 19-year-old man was injured.”

No arrests have been made as yet.

This is the latest in a series of shootings in the Kensington and Factreton communities.

Two weeks ago, 11-year-old Ruben September was killed in gang crossfire.

Days before the child's death, the Kensington Community Policing Forum spearheaded a march to the local police station where residents called for additional police resources to be deployed.
