Investigation into murder of Aviwe Jam-Jam continues
Aviwe Jam-Jam had been missing for several weeks before her family identified a body that had been found in Athlone on Monday as hers.
CAPE TOWN - Police say investigations continue into the murder of Aviwe Jam-Jam from Mfuleni. The 26-year old’s body was found at Vygieskraal Stadium in Athlone on 29 July.
At that time, no one knew it was Jam-Jam’s body until her family identified her body earlier this week.
The exact cause of her death is yet to be determined.
Hundreds of activists, politicians and civil society called for an end to violence against women on Wednesday in Cape Town by staging a “Humanity Walk”.
While these women were raising issues around gender-based violence, Jam-Jam became the latest victim whose name will need to be remembered.
Jam-Jam had been missing for several weeks before her family identified a body that had been found in Athlone on Monday as hers.
The body had been found on 29 July, a week after her disappearance.
Police Minister Fikile Mbalula, who says Jam-Jam was allegedly beaten before she died, visited her family on Wednesday.
