Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini says Zuma has been "tortured" because he leads the ANC.
Dlamini says Zuma has been "tortured" because he leads the ANC.
“You’ve been persecuted not because you are President Jacob Zuma but because you are president of the ANC. The enemy started with its tricks long ago because they know they will never defeat us in the elections.”
Dlamini told hundreds of people at the celebrations that opposition parties tried to destabilise the ANC with Tuesday's secret ballot.
An upbeat-looking Zuma was welcomed to the podium with singing, chanting and ululating.
“We remember today for the strength and the determination of approximately 20,000 women who marched fearlessly to the Union Buildings in Pretoria in 1956.”
