PRETORIA – The latest suspect linked to the assault at the Montana KFC is expected to apply for bail on Tuesday in the Pretoria North magistrates’ court.

The man handed himself over to the police on Monday and brings to five the number of people implicated in the attack, which was revealed in a video that has gone viral on social media.

The video depicts a group of white men attacking a black couple last Wednesday night.

Three of the four suspects arrested last week have remained in custody after being denied bail for providing police with false address details.

It has also emerged that some of the suspects have previous convictions and pending cases of assault against them.

A fifth suspect, who handed himself over to the Sinoville police in the presence of his attorney on Monday, will also ask to be released on bail.

It’s understood that the State will oppose the application.

The police’s Kay Makhubele says they are still searching for a sixth man believed to have been part of the group which attacked the couple.
