Severe weather warning issued for Knysna
MEC Alan Winde says extra manpower has been put in place in Knysna as a severe weather warning has been issued.
CAPE TOWN - The Provincial Economic Development and Tourism MEC, Alan Winde, says extra manpower has been put in place in Knysna as a severe weather warning has been issued.
Weather forecasters have issued warnings that heavy rain is expected to lash parts of the Southern Cape this weekend.
Landslide experts had been surveying the areas around Knysna following a devastating blaze almost two months ago.
Winde says while the town needs water, too much rain could be problematic.
“That poses an environmental risk to the lagoon as there are water risks as the river system gives water to that town. And the water is a major crisis in that town just as it is across the province. We are on very, very low water levels.
The SA Weather Service has predicted 25 millimetres of rain on Friday and 15 for Saturday.
