Police officers redeployed to 10111 centres amid strike
The police ministry says it has had to once again redeploy some of its officers to compensate for 10111 call centre staff that have gone on strike.
JOHANNESBURG - The Police Ministry says it has had to once again redeploy some of its officers to compensate for 10111 call centre staff that have gone on strike.
The nationwide demonstration resumed this week after talks between the South African Police Union (Sapu) and police management reached a deadlock.
The union is demanding that salary scales be upgraded to a level that will be the same as other government call centres.
The ministry has said the strike will not affect operations at the call centre.
Spokesperson Vuyo Mhaga said: “We had to deploy officers to make sure that South Africans receive the service they require and need."
