WC dam levels rise slightly to 27%
Further stringent water restrictions for the entire province are being considered.
CAPE TOWN - The average Western Cape dam level has increased slightly to 27.3%.
Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning MEC Anton Bredell says the province received average rain in July and needed above average rainfall.
Bredell's spokesperson James Brent Styan says further stringent water restrictions for the entire province are being considered.
“Following last year’s season, we had a very tough summer season. As people would know we had water restrictions in place. So it was difficult with levels at 50%, now we're sitting with 27%, so we’re very concerned for the coming summer months.”
