PRETORIA - Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has heaped praise on the late Ronnie Mamoepa, describing him as a seasoned government spokesperson and dedicated public servant.

Mamoepa served as Ramaphosa's spokesperson before his death, related to a stroke he'd suffered.

The Deputy President has praised Mamoepa for his integrity, saying he was born into a generation destined to rise.

“He was also born into a generation destined to challenge the might of a repugnant and revile system.”

Ramaphosa says the 56-year-old gave hope to struggle heroes who had been kept silent.

“he was among those given a task of presenting to a nation and to the world the released giants of our movement, Walter Sisulu, Govern Mbeki and Raymond Mhlaba.”

The Deputy President says he will not forget the lessons he learned from Mamoepa.
