JOHANNESBURG – Tshwane municipal workers affiliated to South African Municipal Workers' Union (Samwu) will on Thursday morning be marching to the office of the city manager in protest against several labour issues.

The union has accused management of not consulting workers when making changes.

Those marching today include metro police officers and emergency services officials.

The union’s Mpho Tladinyana says: “What’s happening there is that the employer wants to force the implementation of a new grading scheme for metro police officers.

“Now we’re saying, once you start cutting the conditions of workers, you must bring such to the relevant bargaining forum.”
