Police: 2 killed at Glebelands hostel on Wednesday night
Police have now confirmed that another victim died instantly when two men opened fire on her in her room on Wednesday night.
DURBAN - Police in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) have confirmed that there were two fatal shootings at the infamous Glebelands hostel on Wednesday night, with the murders taking place just minutes apart from the other.
Earlier, authorities verified that a 32-year-old man from block P at the Umlazi residence was shot in the head several times and died upon arrival at hospital.
Police have confirmed that another victim died instantly when two men opened fire on her in her room on Wednesday night.
A 52-year-old woman, who was running a tuck-shop at the hostel, was approached by two men pretending to be customers.
The police’s Thembeka Mbele says when she opened her door, the suspects opened fire.
“That’s when they fired shots towards her and she was injured in the head and chest. She died on the scene.”
The woman’s murder took place about 15 minutes after another 32-year-old man living in block P was shot in the head several times.
The latest killing brings to 91 the number of people killed in KZN allegedly by hit men based at the Glebelands hostel since 2014.
